Event Details

OBJECTIVE:

Event Camp Twin Cities is about inspiring you to try new communication and collaboration methods at your events. Social, innovation, experimentation and collaboration in events are the key words that summarize what we want to demonstrate and discuss at Event Camp Twin Cities in Minneapolis, MN, USA  and the remote Event Camp Twin Cities POD events in Dallas, TX, USA and Basel, Switzerland.

In our minds, Event Camp will have succeeded if you can go home and say the following:
“Yes, I have now seen how hybrid event technology, social media and new collaborative formats can transform events. Yes, we could try ________ at our event. We may not be able to do it without help – but yes we could do it. AND, we could do it 10 times better than those crazy people at Event Camp Twin Cities.”
This event is going to be a lot of fun!

WHAT:

Some of you are wondering what is a POD? A POD is a remote viewing location for Event Camp where several people are participating together. We are creating live video links between the PODS and the audience in the room. During certain sessions or activities, we will ask the PODS to work together as a group. Then, feed their input or conclusions into the face-to-face audience to add to the discussion.

ABOUT EVENT CAMP:

Event Camp Twin Cities is a blend between the barcamp and wordcamp conference format and an event innovation lab.

The entire program and conference experience will be built around these four words: Social. Innovation. Collaboration. Experimentation.

For some of you, this will be an opportunity to share some of your success stories and failures with social media, virtual events and collaborative methods. While others will have an opportunity to learn about these new social technologies and innovative formats and try them in a risk free environment.

Here are some of the discussion topics that we will tackle:
> With Social Media and mobile technology - what will events look like in 2015?
> How can you make hybrid and virtual events social and interactive?
> How do business games work? Can they play a role in Face-to-Face events and learning?
> What are the latest mobile gadgets and smart phone applications? Should we be using these in our events?

Because Event Camp was born from the #eventprofs Twitter community, we want to create a collaborative and engaging environment where you can feel safe to ask questions, take risks and make mistakes. Here are some of the interactive formats that we have planned:
> Pecha Kucha - Presentations on Social Media, Event Design, Tradeshow Innovation and Hybrid Events
> Hands-on Innovation Lab
> Digital Scavenger Hunt
> StorySlam
> Interactive Business Games
> Livestreaming of the Event with a Twitter Backchannel (fun to try for first timers!)
